UNITE HERE! Local 54, the union representing food and beverage workers in Atlantic City’s casino hotels and other hotels and restaurants, is currently accepting applications for its two-year culinary apprentice program.
Successful applicants will work in an Atlantic City casino hotel under the supervision of mentor chefs and cooks and will undergo a two-year, 4,000-hour program that includes 290 hours of classroom instruction at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Atlantic City Campus and 3710 hours of on-the-job training. During this period, apprentices will receive a salary, free uniforms, paid vacations and medical benefits.
Applicants must 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED and pass a drug test. In addition, they must assemble a portfolio including a 100-word essay, a resume and three letters of reference.
