Local Rita’s Raises $4,504 for Pediatric Cancer Research
The Ocean City Community Supports Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
through Paper Lemon Fundraiser
OCEAN CITY -- The Ocean City Rita’s Water Ice store, located at 900 Boardwalk, announced today that they have raised $4,504 through Rita’s annual paper lemon promotion for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a 501(c)(3) organization that funds pediatric cancer across the United States.
From June 1 through June 30, the store, owned by Ronald and Denise Calvy, joined more than 500 Rita’s locations and participated in the company’s third consecutive fundraiser, selling paper lemons in $1 increments to Rita’s guests. Guests had the option to personalize their paper lemons, which were then displayed in the local store’s “Wall of Hope,” a visual tribute to the community’s participation in the fundraiser.
All of the proceeds from Rita’s June paper lemon fundraiser will be donated to ALSF, a unique foundation that evolved from a young cancer patient’s front yard lemonade stand to a nationwide fundraising movement to cure childhood cancer. Additionally, the donations to the Ocean City store have helped Rita’s Water Ice to collectively raise more than $1.5 million for the Foundation, becoming the leading corporate donor of ALSF.
