BBQ 101 class to be held this weekend in North Wildwood

NORTH WILDWOOD -- The New Jersey State Barbecue Championship will be hosting Ed Roith’s BBQ 101 cooking class. Learn what it takes to cook Championship Barbecue from Ed Roith. As a barbecue competitor, Roith cooked under the team name of Happy “Holla” Barbecue and won more than 375 awards including 11 State Championships. Ed has appeared on several nationally televised BBQ shows and has produced a barbecue cooking CD that has sold more than 5,000 copies. Whether you are a backyard cook looking to impress your family and friends, or an aspiring competitor ready to take your skills to the next level, multi-competition champion Ed Roith will teach you valuable lessons in BBQ 101.
This two and a half hour class will cover cookers, food safety, rubs, sauces, slathers, mops and glazes, meat, butchering/trimming, cooking, competition barbecue, and even offer tips and tasty recipes for backyard grilling.  Everyone knows you can’t just talk about great barbecue without tasting it, so you can count on some great samples too.  BBQ 101 will be offered twice during the 2008 New Jersey State Barbecue Championship, located in North Wildwood, NJ. Class times are Saturday July 12, at 12:30 pm or Sunday, July 13, at 12:30 pm. Tuition is $30 and includes plenty of tasty samples. Seating is limited. The New Jersey State Barbecue Championship is now in its tenth year in North Wildwood, NJ. This free outdoor festival features competitive barbecue teams, continuous live music in conjunction with the Anglesea Blues Festival, vendors, crafters, special displays and celebrity chefs.
