Blackfish Restaurant opens tonight in Avalon

The wildly popular Blackfish Restaurant, which received a three-bell rating (out of four) from Inquirer food columnist/critic Craig LaBan -- he rarely gives out four bars -- has opened at 2019 Dune Drive in Avalon. The grand opening is tonight, Wednesday, June 4. 28-year-old Chip Roman, trained at Drexel University and a chef at Vetri and sous chef at Le Bec Fin, opened Blackfish in Conshohocken in 2007. Word is that it takes weeks to get a reservation for the Conshohocken location. They had a couple invitation-only parties this week that people are raving about. They can be reached at 967-9100 and a sample menu can be viewed at http://www.blackfishrestaurant.com/menu.html. They serve lunch and dinner and entrees go from $25 and up to around $36, and yes, blackfish (aka tautog), is a signature dish. Look for a future Cape Cuisine column for more information.
