After a run through Somers Point last spring or summer, I remember going to the new Starns Shop Rite plaza where they had a Philly Soft Pretzel Factory and a Five Guys Burgers and Fries. I complained -- okay, whined -- about not having any down here. Well now we do. With the opening of Philly Soft Pretzels Factory last week in Rio Grande across from Joe Canal's, we now have two soft pretzel shops, a Five Guys, a China Pavilion that is pretty good, a Cinnabon, a Subway and more all within a stone's throw of each other.

At the Pretzel Factory, my son and I each had pretzel hot dogs for lunch yesterday and they were very good, and they're pretzels --  in my opinion -- are slightly better than Philly Hand Twisted pretzels around the corner near Rio Station. Those that I bought there are sometime under cooked inside, which is very nasty to bite into.

According to the factory's website, there's another franchise coming to Cape May Court House, but no sign of construction yet.
